– Before my release, I said to myself: “I’ll go out and I won’t be upset at all! Never!” That was the first month. You walk like a Dunno in the Sunny City. Everything is interesting, the phones are new. But then you realize that the essence has not changed.
The people have remained the same. It’s just hard to look at old acquaintances. Here you graduated from college together, but a person has a career and an apartment, and he has achieved a lot. And you forgot everything you could. And you will never get a good job. And you go to the most ordinary job.

On leaving the prison, they realize that there are no prospects. And they begin to get bored, to think that, in general, life in the zone is not so bad. Not much trouble, you always know how the day will end. And there are many temptations out there. Yes, and old connections could remain. And the circle closes…
When I left, they told me to contact the district administration. They promised impressive lifts. I had to collect a bunch of papers and endure contemptuous questions. “Why do you need money? And for what?” Indeed, why does a person with a child need money, who, after a month and a half in prison, cannot find a job? As a result, they gave 150 rubles.

After prison, I got a job at a pizzeria through an acquaintance. Worked for a penny and burned out. Then he worked on landscaping. And in a year I realized that this is a road to nowhere. And I have a family. We decided to change something and left for Poland.
It was scary to leave: no acquaintances, no skills, no language. But everything worked out. Working in Poland is also the easiest for me. Only here, with a simple job, you can save up for a vacation and generally live well.

— I received two years under a corruption article*. In my case, there was a reward, but there were no legally significant actions. All the episodes that I was charged with were taken collectively and on the basis of detailed economic justifications. So I’m just adding one more person to the anti-corruption statistics.
I thought I’d get out faster, but the laws got tougher. It was forbidden to release corrupt officials ahead of schedule. Although basically, these are decent people who have a lot of merits in this country and abroad.
